2003-03-18 - Don't set fire to your oil fields, any of you who are still alive
Japan is with us, Germany is against us.

Another way of saying Germany has gained sanity whilst Japan protects its financial interests, perhaps.

The war has been getting me down all day. Not so much getting me down as getting me torn with anxiety and horror, pity for the poor people who will suffer and die, anger at the people who don't care. All so terribly, horribly sad.

Saddam ain't gonna leave, because Saddam is as insane as Bush. (But we can hope. For another 40 or so hours, we can still hope.)

The best and worst moment of Bush's speech was his soulful implorations to the Iraqi people not to set fire to the oil fields. Because fuck guys, we're going to kill you and your friends and your families, but we still need to be able to afford to drive our SUVs! Have a heart for us poor Americans, suffering as our gas prices shoot up and we are forced to consider having to occassionally take the bus to work!

It's not that we want to kill you of course. You just happen to be in our way.
