You know I think conservatives must be terribly gullible and stupid if they were fooled by anything in Bush's state of the nation address. I can't believe that anyone could be goddamn dumb enough to think he actually cares about the environment. Whoopee he's putting some money into a hydrogen fuel car, so we might have clean fuel in 30 years but in the meantime he'll block every increase in fuel efficiency and give mega tax breaks to people buying mega polluting SUVs. (See Bush's "Green" State of the Union on Alternet.) Bush has the worst environmental record of any president, ever. He systematically removing protections from our water, forests, national lands and nature preserves. How much of an idiot do you have to be to believe a word the man says?

OK let's be fair to conservatives here. There are a handful of Republicans who want to protect the environment. Teddy Roosevelt, for example. Even Nixon signed into law a slew of laws that Shrub is now working to weaken and get rid of. If you are for some sick reason I don't want to think about, a Republican, but do care about the environment, as well as considering psychiatric help and maybe changing parties you should join Republicans for Environmental Protection.

Is it any wonder that I get so depressed?
