2002-12-25 - Merry Mithrasmas
Christmas is champagne, cigarettes, and mashed potatoes. I am given some CDs and a scarf. We sit around and talk and laugh and I am impressed that humanity is ingenious enough to invent religion as an excuse for some time off work.

Of all the people around the globe who celebrate Christmas, how many do you think are really thinking about Jesus? Of those, how many know that he wasn't even born at Christmas but that it was a convenient pagan holiday for the early church to borrow?

Me, I'm raising a glass to Mithras.
